The RTA have several routes they will take you on and you will rarely do the same route again if you have to repeat your test.
If you are doing the test in you own car the RTA will do a safety inspection on your car prior to the test. Its a good idea to check your indicators and brake lights are working, clean your windscreen check for cracks and make sure your rego is current and your tyres have legal tread. Any problems with the above and your test will not proceed.
The driving test is around 30 minutes and you will not be told the results till you return to the RTA office and your score is tallied. It’s a good idea to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the test and after the test you will be waiting up to 30 minutes till your new licence is processed, less if you fail.
If you have to rebook your test it is better to do it on line than wait around at the RTA, rebooking times can be out to 4 to 6 weeks. After you have made your booking you can revisit the RTA Web Site and try to obtain an earlier time slot as these are updated every day as cancellations occur, usually between 2-3 PM..
